Potterpourri 85
On the one side the Shrieking shack scene as a whole comes in my sympathy for book three right after my beloved train scene.
On the other side - when you a reading it for the first time you are probably burst with suspense and excitement, but then from the second time on - I think Rowling overdid it during that part where the kids are still alone with Black. Sirius is doing his obscure-maybe-murderer number up until LUPI arrives and is kindly helping to clarify everything.
Why is Sirius using words and gestures that make him look to 100% like the evil one for the kiddies? After all, Azkaban didn't stultify him! After all, he loves his godchild, just sent him a ridiculously expensive broom a little while before!
I know, it happened for the sake of the suspeeeeeense, but at the latest from my second reading on I-just-can't take this suspeeeeeense sirious anymore.

I think Sirius was a little nuts after escaping from his time in Azkaban so that would explain why he acted the way he did.
