My Disney drabble no 5: The Jungle book


...well, why bother. Baloo was dumped then for that girl just a few hours later.

Hm, that means, if you don't see the sequel as canon...! Do you know that the wolves are not even ONCE mentioned there? :/ Boo-hoo. I presume because there shouldn't be a conflict between Mowgli's new human family and his old wolf family...


Disney's Jungle book is as far as I know until now the most successful movie in Germany. Kinda funny to hear that it isn't suuuch a bit star in the USA. During my childhood I saw the movie, and while I didn't dislike it I also didn't fall for it. To me it was more a thing for boys.

But lately my interest grew again, and a few weeks ago I was so lucky to get the DVD from a library. After rewatching the film and seeing the extras ( <3! ) I can really appreciate The Jungle Book now, despite seeing some things still critical.

I was kinda surprised how much better the girl's song sounds compared to the German version! Gosh. IMO the German voice sounds way too sugary and the translation is also rather silly sometimes. For example, the simple "My own home" chant at the beginning was turned into "cozy home, luck alone, it's nice to be at home" - AUGH! Ok, enough of the rant.

As always I could easily give you some more trivia talk, but I'm stopping myself here.
